Can I be brutally honest and shallow here for a minute. I feel like we’re all like a crazy obsessed family, so I’m with my people here…

For me, it’s not Edison, its fucking Norm. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure the actor is a lovely person and I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors, but he was seriously miss cast as Olivia Popes ex (trying to be present), and Fitz’s competition!! Chile I can’t even type that shit with a straight face. That motherfucker (no disrespect Norm, God knows my heart) is so far out his league it’s a damn shame. Norm makes me hate Edison because when Norm says things like I am a man, he can’t sell it and it comes off as wackness on top of wackness. That’s when we get angry, and start calling him shit like pudding pop and just going the fuck off, and then people start to think we’re racist. We’re not racist (that’s so ridiculous) and it’s not Edison, or the fact that he’s black or even the fact that he’s playing sort of an asshole, its fucking Norm.

I challenge any of us Edison haters to say we would hate Edison if he were lets say Idris Alba(I’m at work so I can’t put a pic up of him, but ya’ll know what all that fineness looks like) telling Kerry Washington he’s a man. I dare ya’ll to tell me that speech and scene wouldn’t have been completely different. Idris would be serious competition for Fitz. I’ll say it again Idris would be some serious competition for Fitz. That’s when I could understand Fitz having them followed and throwing shit around in his office, and crying. He’d have a reason too then! (He’d still win at the end cause OLITZ for life, but Idris would definitely make Fitz work for it) I also don’t care if Edison was supposed to be a dickhead; I very much doubt he’d be getting so much hate if he was sexy and a dickhead. Shit Idris participated and convoluted so much fuckery and foolishness on The Wire, but I still clenched my heart and fell to my knees screaming “Noooooooooo”, when they shot and killed Stringer Bell. That’s just how fine that mofo is, all sins are instantly forgotten and forgiven.

Yea I digress, but all I’m saying is if Edison was some sexy BDM (big dick mother..) his character wouldn’t irritate me, and I bet you money the Fitz/Olivia/Edison fanfic would consist of a lot less “Fuck pudding pop” and a lot more ménages (I’m just saying)

So at the end of the day, its not racism, or cockiness, or Edison doesn’t love Olivia ( I can deal with all that), nope…its fucking Norm (and please don’t think I’m one of those crazies on twitter, tweeting him mean stuff, cause I’m not, like I said I wish him all the best in the world) but he’s simply not hot enough to be Olivia Pope boyfriend, her daddy maybe, even a cool uncle, but not boyfriend. Fitz sneezes swag, and farts charm, Norm (as Edison) just sneezes and farts.. that’s not right. And Shonda knows she’s wrong for doing Norm like that, threw that poor baby dolphin into a shark tank of hotness and she just let his plain pudding pop looking self drown.

But I just want to add that everybody cast in this show was carefully selected for a reason (even the guest stars). I think the intention with Norm (as Edison) was for him to not be well liked to have almost everyone root for Fitz and Olivia to be together. If they had cast a fine ass looking man like Idris (any other panty dropper) the OLITZ fan base might not be so strong.

I said my peace before about the racism part (ridiculous frankly, race has got nothing to do with this), and I COMPLETELY agree with the above, too. Said it before myself, let’s se if Omari Hardwick, or the above-cited Idris Elba played Edison? He wouldn’t get hate. He’d be disliked ‘cause he’s competition for Fitz but he’d be the sexy as hell man to dislike. I think they purposely cast someone who didn’t have chemistry with Kerry or the right looks and swag to be Olivia’s boyfriend, but they OVERDID IT. It can be bland without being SO damn bland and irritating as it is.

I definitely think the casting of Norm was deliberate. I don’t think Edison’s main purpose was to be some old flame of Liv that she tries again with. His true purpose is yet to be revealed, imo. I also think that sometimes excellence in one medium doesn’t translate to others. Norm may be the shit on Broadway but TV is not for him.

Yes, completely agree on everything. I still think he may be in cahoots with either the crazyass democratic Governor or Sally. Leaning toward the first one, he’s back this episode and he’s a democrat, so there would be reason for Edison to be in cahoots with him to take down Fitz. (yes I’m implying he’s involved in the shooting order).

Yes I’m riding with this theory I absolutely agree and I always felt Edison came back to Olivia life for a reason. She needs to get her gut back so she can figure this out.Who is trying to destroy Fitz?
